The Virginia Council
for the Financial Education of Youth implements a full curriculum
in Personal Finance for schools and community service organizations
interested in participating in our program.
The Curriculum
The NEFE High School Financial Planning Program currently
used by the Council was developed and published by the National Endowment
for Financial Education and is made available with the cooperation
of the U.S Department of Agriculture Cooperative State Research, Education,
and Extension Service, and the Credit Union National Association, Inc.,
and America’s Credit Unions.
Topics included in the curriculum
are:

- Making Decisions
- Personal Financial
Responsibility
- What Employers Want
- The Costs and Benefits of College
Education
- Entrepreneurship
- Cost of Living
- Budgeting
- Savings
and Investments
- Credit and Debt Management and
Insurance.
Faculty:
The curriculum is taught by volunteer and paid individuals with education
and experience in Personal Finance and/or Business who can bring
real life examples to the classroom setting.
